Gloucestershire College is inviting parents in to each of its campuses next week for a series of Parent Information Sessions, aimed at helping them understand all of their children’s education options after their GCSEs, including sixth form, college courses and apprenticeships.

  • Gloucester Campus – Tuesday 12 April, 6pm to 7pm
  • Royal Forest of Dean Campus – Wednesday 13 April, 6pm to 7pm
  • Cheltenham Campus – Thursday 14 April, 6pm to 7pm

Each session will be hosted by Principal Matthew Burgess and Vice Principal Joy Kettyle, and parents will be able to discover what studying at Gloucestershire College is like, and how the College’s close working relationships with businesses ensure its students leave with the skills needed to be successful.

The independent Advice Team will also provide impartial information on all of the education options available to young people in Gloucestershire in a short talk, after which the Student Experience Team will offer a student’s view to help parents understand the journey their children are going through at this important time in their lives.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions about post-16 options, courses and opportunities in a Q&A session that will bring the events to a close.

Principal Matthew Burgess said: “We understand the choices young people face when deciding their next steps in education once they have completed their GCSEs. This is an extremely important time and parents and guardians play a key role in helping their children choose the right route for them; the route that best suits their individual skills, strengths, abilities and ambitions.

“Through our Parent Information Sessions we aim to help parents understand the wealth of options available to their children, including sixth form, full-time college courses and apprenticeships, so they can be sure they are fully informed before making that important decision about their children’s future.”
