GC House Blog 3. Removing architrave and revealing mosaics
This week, our star students working on the GC House include 17-year-old Joshua Woodfine, L3 Construction; Jakub Lenard, L2 Electrical Installation; and Zackery Cuthbert, L3 Construction.
They have been removing architrave and dismantling electrical points throughout the property inside, while scaffolding has been erected outside, ready for the repointing of the walls and the fitting of the new roof, which is being generously donated by the College's construction partner, E G Carter.
Zackery and Joshua said: "Earlier this week we removed the architrave from the doors using chisels and hammers, whilst wearing the correct PPE. We really enjoyed ourselves and worked well as a team.
"It was very interesting to watch the electrician work too and gain insight into what happens in a full house renovation."
Here's a picture of the beautiful, original mosaic tiled floor students revealed during the ripping out stage last week. They will be working on restoring this to its former glory very soon.
