Gloucestershire College is hosting a Construction and Building Services Showcase on Wednesday 15 July, giving everyone from self-employed tradesmen to larger organisations an opportunity to find out about part-time courses and apprenticeships available.

Between 6pm and 8pm, there will be the opportunity to hear talks from Gloucestershire College course leaders, current apprentices and their employers; talk to the dedicated GC Business Hub about courses available; enjoy tours of the facilities; network with peers from the industry; and find out more about the business benefits of hiring an apprentice.

Gloucestershire College offers a wide range of apprenticeships and part-time courses for trade professionals that are flexible to fit around work. These range from more practical qualifications such as ACS Gas Safety, Electrical Installation and Brickwork, to those with a more management focus such as the Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment, and Business Administration.

This event is ideal for those who currently work in the industry; require trade certificates to work professionally or would like to upskill with additional qualifications; manage training of employees; or are interested in hiring an apprentice.

Head of Construction and Building Services, Mike Lawson, said: “We’re excited to be hosting this event especially for construction and building services professionals in the county. Gloucestershire College has a lot to offer to help support and develop businesses, including apprenticeships and employee training for industry-specific qualifications.

“The Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) recent Construction Skills Network forecast suggested an extra 200,000 new jobs will be created over the next five years as the industry expands, with skills gaps also being reported across the country, and Gloucestershire College aims to fill those gaps by training their existing workers and providing skilled apprentices.

“Everyone is welcome at the event, including those already working with the College, and we look forward to seeing you all there to find out how we can help you build a better workforce for the future.”

Refreshments and pay and display parking will be available at Gloucester Campus.

Those interested in attending the event can register for their place at www.gc-showcase.eventbrite.co.uk.
