Gloucestershire College’s experienced chefs are set to impress traders in the demo kitchen at The Food and Drink Trade Show, which is being held at The Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 June.

The annual event offers visitors a unique mix of speciality food and drink products, alongside the demo kitchen, where some of the region’s most celebrated chefs show off their skills.

For the second year running, the College’s Head of Catering and Hospitality, Gareth Crwys-Williams, and Head Chef Shaun Naen, will demonstrate a range of eclectic dishes using produce available from the exhibitors and will, of course, be encouraging traders to join in the culinary fun.

The hour-long demonstrations are scheduled for 11am and 3pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and alongside these, traders will have the chance to find about more about Gloucestershire’s top chef training school and the catering apprenticeships and part-time, one-day and short courses available to businesses.

A seasoned and successful chef, Gareth Crwys-Williams studied catering at Gloucestershire College in the 80s before honing his trade across the continents, working and running restaurants, hotels, pubs, clubs and events. Career highlights include cooking for the Queen and winning the prestigious PACE Award for working with partnerships in education.

While Shaun, who is renowned for his innovative Chefs on Tour demonstrations across county schools, also has decades of industry experience – and certainly knows how to work a crowd. His professional career has seen him study at France’s legendary patisserie school, Ecole Lenôtre, and go on to represent the UK repeatedly in the Culinary Olympics and World Championships.

Gareth said: “As well as encouraging young people to choose rewarding careers in catering and hospitality, both Shaun and I have a real passion for sharing our skills and knowledge with others.

“We very much look forward to inspiring – and entertaining – visitors at The Food and Drink Trade Show and welcome questions from any businesses looking to upskill their current workforce with Gloucestershire College’s part-time and short courses, as well as those looking to grow and take on an apprentice.”
