Gloucestershire College opens first City Centre training salon in the South West

7 November 2014

The Gloucestershire College Hair and Beauty team has joined forces with the Francesco Group for Education and Training to open the first City Centre training salon in the South West.

Graduations at No.9, which quietly opened its doors to the public earlier this week on Northgate Street, Gloucester, will open six days a week, including Saturdays, and is intended to bridge the gap between education and employment. A range of hair and beauty treatments will be on offer, expertly delivered by full-time Level 2 and 3 hair and beauty students at the College, guided by an experienced team of teaching staff led by new Salon Manager, Nicola Tunbridge.

The Francesco Group for Education and Training has over 20 years of experience and works with 20 other colleges throughout the UK to supply real training for real jobs. The true working environment with structure, opening hours, revenue, customer service, client retention and financial targets means that students are able to learn about all aspects of the hairdressing industry, from the very start of their training.

The salon, which has 12 seats and two beauty rooms, boasts a high-end look combining a monochrome colour palette with and modern industrial theme. Brands stocked and used at Graduations at No.9 will include Wella, Dermalogica and GHD.

Alison Knapman, Director of Hair and Beauty at Gloucestershire College said: “Graduations at No.9 is a really exciting new offer from Gloucestershire College, and will help us to provide outstanding, real-world training opportunities for all of our full-time hair and beauty students.

“We already work in partnership with many local employers to deliver hair and beauty training through apprenticeships, and that will not change, but we wanted to give all of our full-time students valuable commercial experience in order to develop a wide range of skills, from creative cutting, styling and colouring, to time management and customer service. Long term, this will be of huge benefit to local employers, who will be able to recruit from a pool of talented stylists and beauty technicians with relevant industry experience.”

Shoppers are encouraged to drop into the new training salon to find out more, and to pick up information on a series of opening offers. Alternatively, customers can call to book an appointment on 01452 527356.
