“My favourite thing about the course is that I can learn new skills on the job which will get me ready for work life. My goal is to be a pastry chef abroad and doing the apprenticeship is teaching me lots of transferable baking and pastry skills.
The apprenticeship I chose is run through Gloucestershire College, so I come one day a week to the campus to do practical learning for my qualification. I chose the course as there was a baking unit which is something I really enjoy and want to do in later life as a job.
My advice to students thinking of applying is to do something you have a passion for and love and don’t just do something because all your friends are doing it. After this course I want to move on to a more specific baking course to really learn my cooking niche.”
