This course gives you the opportunity to gain the expert skills that employers seek in today’s competitive market place and it also opens the doors to Higher Education.
You will study a range of topics including:
- Supporting Business Meetings
- Customer Service and Marketing
- Organising Business Events
- Recruitment and Selection
- Teamwork and Leadership
- Business Finance
You won’t need to wear a uniform but smart business dress is a must.
There will be a range of trips to see businesses in action, for example, Sky, Coca Cola, Amazon and more local public companies and charities.
This course is a mixture of internally assessed units via coursework and external work which could include an exam.
This pathway enables you to gain the broad range of administration skills employers seek in today’s competitive marketplace. In addition to the core business units, you will study business project management; managing business information; supporting business activities; and understanding health and safety in the business workplace. Students progressing to the second year will have the opportunity to take the highly regarded Text and Word Processing exams.
Human Resource Management Pathway
This pathway gives you the opportunity to focus on key modules relating to human resource theory and management skills. Units studied in this pathway include aspects of employment law; development planning for a career in business; human resource management in business; and recruitment and selection in business.
This pathway is designed for students who have an interest in leadership and management, and want to specialise in this as a career or go on to study at a higher level. Units studied in this pathway include developing teams in business; managing a business event; managing physical resources in a business environment; and training in the business workplace.
This pathway gives you the opportunity to achieve a wide skill base in advertising and marketing, and is a stepping stone into supervisory and management positions. You will study creative production promotion; internet marketing in business;market research in business; relationship marketing; and social media.
Gloucestershire College recognises the importance of all learners getting the Maths and English qualifications that they will need to be successful in their chosen career. For this reason all full-time learners who have not achieved grade A*-C Maths or English Language GCSE will work towards these qualifications as part of their studies.
