Designed to give you a broad understanding of the sector and various roles they play, it will give you the skill set that will make you a more attractive applicant.
These cover a range of subjects including:
- Policies and Public Services

- Team Development
- Understanding Discipline

There is also the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme.
We aim to get you as involved as much as possible with real public service activities and events, ranging from Pre- Royal Marine Course training weeks, riot training with Gloucestershire police right through to multi- service emergency incident exercises.
In the second year we will support the students in planning for their next steps- whether this is into Higher Education or starting the application process for their chosen public service. It is in this year that we expect to see the students start taking personal challenges- whether this is progressing onto their Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh award or working in the community as volunteers.
The course has many practical activities and students must attend these sessions wearing appropriate clothing and footwear.
