GCSE Biology is a stimulating and fun subject which is essential if you are interested in medical or veterinary science, forensics, agriculture or conservation. You will study the main components of the body and how they work, including the digestive, nervous, reproductive, respiratory and circulatory systems; and how the structures of our bodies are all designed for their function. You will also study plant and animal growth, how organisms are adapted to their environments, the overall importance of plants to life, and ecosystems. There is a mandatory practical component to this course.

 

  • You must be aged over 19 at the start of the academic year.

    Entry to the course is subject to satisfactory completion of an online assessment and attendance to a mandatory information and assessment session to determine your suitability.

    Ideally you will already have at least a grade 3/D in a science related GCSE subject.

  • A full Level 2 programme (including English and Maths at 9/A* - 4/C) will entitle you to progress to one of our level 3 programmes. 

    A grade 5/B in Biology is required to enter University to study Teaching or Nursing.
