The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives is the professional association which represents more than 20,000 trainee and practising Chartered Legal Executives. Law firms across the country recognise the quality and skills that CILEx qualifications bring to their teams.
The Certificate course is suitable for those starting their career in law or equally for those currently working for a law firm who wish to progress further and gain recognition for their skills.
The qualification covers five units relating to Introduction to Law and Practice, Law of Tort, Legal Research Skills, Client Care and Civil Litigation.
The Professional Diploma has been developed as a unitised qualification which permits students to adopt a flexible and tailor-made approach to learning. It requires that students achieve across key areas of Law and Legal Practice (ie mandatory Law units consist of: Contract Law, Criminal Law, Land Law and Law of Tort).
The mandatory inclusion of these units ensures that the qualification both reflects the pace of change in the legal sector and that CILEx students are well-prepared to embrace this change.
The qualification consists of ten units (including the five units studied in the Level 3 Certificate in Law & Practice) in total which are each assessed by CILEx and accumulated by the student. Each unit is regarded as a worthwhile achievement in its own right and certification is available at unit level.
Assessment for both courses is based on different methods, combining computer-based multiple choice and closed book examinations.
For full details on the CILEx range of qualifications and the qualifying employment to meet work based learning outcomes see their website www.cilex.org.uk
