Electrical and Electronic Engineering Higher Apprenticeship

    This higher apprenticeship is for those already in or seeking a career in electrical and electronic engineering, covering the use of microprocessors, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), power systems and control. Much of the learning will focus around live projects briefs, real case studies and work-related scenarios.

    The delivery mode can be completed through day release, evening delivery or block release. A key feature of this course is the support that it receives from local and regional employers.

    The competence and knowledge qualifications in this framework contribute to general competence as measured in the Engineering Council's UK specification and is endorsed by the lET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) 

    Successful completion of the course may allow progression onto HND Level 5 and several related BSc or BEng degree courses.

    Elements of this framework:

    • Foundation Degree FdSc in Aerospace Computer Systems
    • Level 4 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Manufacture
    • Employee Rights and Responsibilities
    • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

    Delivery model and duration

    • the apprenticeship will take 42 months to complete
    • the apprentice will be required to study at college for one day per week
    • Workplace assessment (number of visits will vary with each individual)
