This course is a part-time one day a week programme which takes a year to complete. It is suitable for all those who work in the kitchens but have yet to gain formal chef qualifications. It is suitable for those who are considering a change of career.
You will study the following units:
You will have the opportunity to attend extra sessions of master classes from some of Gloucestershire’s finest chefs, and visit some local establishments
The qualification you will study is the City and Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery
The assessment on this course will be through a mixture of practical tasks and short answer tests. During the programme you will complete a logbook showing what you have produced and you'll have practical assessments.
There are currently a variety of employment opportunities in the hospitality industry and achievement of this qualification will help to kick-start your career.
You must be aged over 19 at the start of the academic year.
Entry to the course is subject to satisfactory completion of an online Professional Course Assessment that will be sent to you following an application. You will need to demonstrate a good standard of English language, relevant experience, industry knowledge and ability to work at the required level for this course.

You’ll also get plenty of real-world experience attending and running events around the county, which may include large functions and corporate events.
