This course gives you the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and understanding in relation to health and social care.
The topics you may study might include: • Equality, diversity and rights • Exploring personal and professional development in Health and Social Care • Sociological Perspectives for Health and Social Care • Health and Safety • Health Promotion • Development through the life stages • Values and Planning in Social Care • Psychological perspectives for Health and Social Care in health or social care settings. You will study a wide range of care related topics whilst undertaking this programme of study. These will be assessed by coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations, work placement and practical activities. Those wanting to enter the Health and Social Care workforce have obtained jobs with local care providers including support roles, and Health Care Assistants. Many of our students wish to pursue careers in nursing, social work or midwifery, and a significant number of our Level 3 students have gone on to obtain places on their chosen courses at University for 2014. You will need to have a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service(DBS) check before you can be accepted onto the course. You should also be prepared to attend work placements throughout the year. A fee is charged for the DBS check and for the tunic you will wear in your placement. You will be advised on a text book to purchase and you need to be prepared to pay for educational visits that will take place during the course. Should an exam resit be required there will be an additional charge of £31.
