    Ideal if: you want to learn a wide range of topics related to health and care to provide a broad and deep understanding of the health and social care sector.

    You’ll learn: human lifespan development; anatomy and physiology for health and social care; sociological perspectives; psychological perspectives; meeting individual care and support needs; physiological disorders and their care.

    Expect: a work placement for two days a week within the sector; linking theory to practice.

    You’ll love: that this qualification has been developed in consultation with universities, employers and professional bodies to ensure it supports your progression to higher level study and employment.

     

    This course will give you the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and understanding in relation to health and social care.

    The units you may study include:

    • Human Lifespan Development
    • Working in Health and Social Care
    • Anatomy and Physiology
    • Sociological Perspectives
    • Enquiries into Current Research
    • Promoting Public Health
    • Psychological Perspectives
    • Principles of Safe Practice
    • Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs

    You will study a wide range of care related topics whilst undertaking this programme of study. These will be assessed by external exams, coursework which includes projects, assignments, presentations, work placement and practical activities. There is a dedicated Placement Officer who will help you find a suitable placement setting and will track and log your placement hours throughout the course.

    Those wanting to enter the Health and Social Care workforce have obtained jobs with local care providers, including support roles and Health Care Assistants. Many of our students wish to pursue careers in nursing, social work or midwifery, and a significant number of our Level 3 students have progressed to places on their chosen course at University.

    You will need to have a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before you can be accepted onto the course. You should also be prepared to attend work placements throughout the year. A fee is charged for the DBS.

    You will be advised on a text book to purchase and may be asked to pay for educational visits that will take place during the course.  Should an exam resit be required there will be an additional charge of £31.
