This is an intensive one-year, post A Level or level 3 course, which gives you the opportunity to explore the many areas of art and design before choosing an area in which to specialise.

The course is geared towards the preparation of a portfolio of work to support your application to an advanced course - or in gaining employment. Throughout the course your practical studio work will be supported by a programme of studies in the history of art and design. This course demands a high degree of discipline and self-motivation. The course gives you a broad foundation across a wide range of disciplines in art, design and media, before you explore an area that interests you in much greater detail. You will have a dedicated studio workspace for you to come into college five days a week for the year. You will study: • Drawing, fine art: painting and sculpture • Fashion Textiles and surface design • Graphic design and illustration • Printmaking • Contextual Studies. Gloucestershire College has excellent facilities, and specialised staff with industry experience. You will take part in live assignment briefs. The College has close links with artists and within the industry. You will enjoy large, light working spaces, life drawing studio, and digital art suites (Mac and PC). The academy recognises, develops and improves skills opportunities for those entering the creative and cultural sector and those already employed within it.
