(Includes Fashion and/or Graphics at Gloucester, Fashion and/or Photography at Forest of Dean) The course aims to inspire you to develop your own style and to specialise in an area of the expansive art and design industry.
“Live client briefs are an integral feature of work in visual arts, and the whole creative process reflects industry standards” (Ofsted, 2013)
Your studies will include: • Drawing and Painting • Textiles and Graphics • Projects using ceramics, wood and wire. You will choose to also take units in fashion and/or graphics. This one year course offers learners the opportunity to study a variety of art and design skills and techniques. These include drawing, painting, textiles, graphics and photography, along with projects using ceramics, wood and wire. The course is designed to give learners the skills needed to progress on to an extended diploma in a specialist area. The course involves educational visits and key skills as part of the wider curriculum. Gloucestershire College has excellent facilities, and specialised staff with industry experience. You will take part in live assignment briefs and the College has close links with artists and within the industry. You will enjoy large, light working spaces, a dedicated fashion room, print room, darkroom, life drawing studio, photography studio and digital art suites (Mac and PC).
At Gloucestershire College we want students to develop their English and maths skills so that they achieve their learning goals and future career aims. For this reason all full-time students who have not achieved grade A* to C English language or maths GCSE will study these subjects as part of their course.
