Ideal if: you’re open-minded, creative and would like to develop your performance skills across a variety of styles and settings.
You’ll learn: acting (focus, concentration, character portrayal, pacing and physical and vocal control), improvisation skills, technical skills (lighting) and experience performing to an audience.
Expect: a practical course combining theory and practice, aimed at developing knowledge and skills across a broad range of performance, including voice and movement.
You’ll love: performing in the College’s Taylor Theatre; workshops with leading professionals; and opportunities to see live theatre.

This course will provide you with a strong understanding of the various aspects of performing arts. You will work with specialised staff with industry experience and carry out practical work in the theatre, practice studios and dance studio.
As part of the course students will take part in various performances to their peers and outside audiences. Past performances have included Devised original work using themes based around current issues, “Secret Cinema” style performances and scripted work, such as “Two” by Jim Cartwright. Students will also have the opportunity to experience working as part of a production team and undertake roles such as lighting, sound and production design.
Gloucestershire College enjoys excellent facilities (including access to two theatres, dance studio, rehearsal spaces, recording studio and practise rooms) and highly qualified staff with industry experience, many still working within the industry, which enhances the learning experience.
You will enjoy the opportunity to perform in high quality productions at a variety of venues around Gloucestershire.
There is a requirement for appropriate clothing to be worn in class; i.e. loose, comfortable clothing. Students are requested not to wear jewellery to practical classes.
Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.
For 19+ applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.
