You’re more than a qualification with GC.

We all know qualifications are important! You learn the theory but not always the practical skills you need to start doing the job you want to do.

So how do you get your foot in the door of a company? And how do you make sure that you get a head-start in a competitive job market?

Kick-start your Career

Employers are putting more emphasis on experience when it comes to their job vacancies. Even entry level jobs typically require some relevant experience.

But what does experience actually mean and how can you get it?

Our student development programme involves employer contact which is key to providing work experience opportunities all year round – not just for one week. And we have 850 business connections at GC to make that happen.

If you know exactly what you want to do we can connect you with businesses in that industry to give you the platform to kick-start your reputation and build contacts for the future.

If you’re not quite sure what you want to do yet we can provide you with opportunities to experience all kinds of industries to help you discover the kind of work you’d like to do.

“I did work experience at the 2 Michelin Star restaurant, Le Champignon Sauvage while I was studying at GC, which showed me the fine dining side of catering and completely changed the path I wanted to go down. After college, the skills and experience I gained on my course earned me a full-time position as Chef de Partie at Le Champignon, where I worked for a year. I’m now Commis Chef at Lucknam Park, learning under celebrity chef Hywel Jones and have even been back to GC several times as a guest chef.”
