Forest of Dean Campus
Wednesday 10 May
Situated in a stunning rural location at Five Acres, Coleford, our Forest of Dean Campus is accessible by car and regular bus services from around the county.
At the Forest Sixth Form, we pride ourselves on course quality and student support. We can offer all of the support and the community feel of a school, coupled with the excellent wider resources and facilities of Gloucestershire College.
Monday 15 May
Our vibrant Cheltenham Campus is situated on Princess Elizabeth Way, near Cheltenham town centre, and is easily accessible by car, bike and regular bus services.
This campus boasts big, bright spacious classrooms across three floors and is home to the GC Sixth Form, Graduations Hair and Beauty, a lively catering department and the Cheltenham Fashion Academy. There are new purpose-built construction and building services workshops filled with industry-standard tools and facilities, not to mention an inspiring, new library kitted out with iMacs.
Can I apply at the open evening?
Yes! We’ll have Application Hubs set up on each campus and our friendly Student Services Team will be on hand to help with any queries you may have during the application process.
Am I able to park at the College?
Parking will be free at all of our campuses for you to park during the event.
Please note: If our Gloucester car park is full, there is the option to park in Gloucester Quays car park for a discounted rate of £1 from 6pm.
Will I be able to talk to someone about the support available and careers advice?
Gloucestershire College has a dedicated Advice Team who can give you free, impartial and confidential advice on choosing a career path and planning your studies to get there. The team will be available at each open evening to talk through the full range of options available to you. We’ll also have staff on hand to help you out with any queries about funding and travel.
Can I go to more than one open evening?
Of course. Different courses run from different campuses, so we would advise that you drop in to any campuses that you’re interested in studying at. Also, each of our campuses has a different layout and feel, so it is useful to see for yourself which campus would suit you best.
What if I’m interested in higher education courses?
We’ll have a higher education stand set up on the day where you can find out everything you need to know about studying for a HE course with us. You might also like to check out our Access to Higher Education courses – these are designed for anyone who’s looking to progress on to HE but has been out of education for more than a year and doesn’t currently have the grades needed to get on to a HE course.
I’m thinking about doing an apprenticeship, should I still come?
Definitely. We’ll have an Apprenticeship Zone with specialist staff who can talk you through all the options available and the current vacancies you can apply for. If you’re not sure you’re ready for apprenticeships, why not take a look at our traineeships – these are a great stepping-stone that will help you prepare for becoming an apprentice.
How long is the event?
Our Cheltenham and Gloucester open evenings run from 5.30pm until 8pm, and our Royal Forest of Dean open evening runs from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Please feel free to come along at any point between these times.
I’m a mature student. Can I still come to this open evening?
Absolutely. Many of our courses are open to students of any age. If you’re aged 24 or over, you might like to ask about the 24+ Advanced Learning Loan which enables you to access financial support if you study a course that’s eligible. Have a chat with student services on the day to find out more.
I thought the Open Evening was absolutely fantastic; there was so much to see and learn from in each area. Personally, my favourite was catering and hospitality, as we were given a lovely tour of the different rooms and how they use them. Loved it! Also the staff were so sweet and kind. I would definitely recommend this college 100%
