This Chartered Institute of Legal Executives qualification offers a unique, flexible route to a legal career and becoming a qualified lawyer without having a degree in law. The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) represents more than 20,000 trainee and practicing Legal Executives. Law firms across the country recognise the quality and skills that CILEx qualifications bring to their teams.

Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice

The Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice is suitable for those starting their career in law. Students may well already be working for a law firm and seeking to progress in their role.

The qualification covers five units:

  1. Introduction to Law and Practice
  2. Law of Tort
  3. Legal Research Skills
  4. Client Care and
  5. Civil Litigation

Upon completion of the Level 3 Certificate, students can progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice.

Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice

To achieve the Level 3 Diploma, students must complete 5 further units of study:

  1. Criminal Law
  2. Land Law
  3. Contract Law
  4. Family Law
  5. Conveyancing Practice 

On successful completion of the Diploma, you will be able to progress on to the CILEx Level 6 qualification.

Online & on campus learning

Our Online & On Campus approach enables students to benefit from both face-to-face teaching at Gloucestershire College and online lessons available on demand, offering a truly flexible study experience. In addition to attending face-to-face classes, students will be expected to undertake a further 5 to 6 hours each week of guided self-study out of college.

If you are already working in a Law firm, you will be able to achieve this qualification as an apprentice, meaning that you can continue working in your current role whilst you study.

Whether you choose to complete your CILEx paralegal qualification as a part time student or as an apprentice, there is funding available to support you.
