It's time to complete your online maths and English (BKSB) assessments

As part of the application process, all students must complete an online maths and English (BKSB) assessment before September. To get started, please read the guidance below.

Four simple steps to complete the online maths and English (BKSB) assessments

  • STEP 1: CLICK HERE  for online maths and English (BKSB) assessments
  • STEP 2: Login using the following details:
    USERNAME: [student.studentreference]
    PASSWORD: password
  • STEP 3: Read and agree to the terms and conditions
  • STEP 4: Create a new password
Enter the password provided above. You’ll then be asked to create a new password.

Once you have completed the steps, select the 'FOCUS Functional Skills' option and complete both the maths and English Initial and Diagnostic Assessments. On completion of each subject, you’ll receive a level and a percentage.

You’re not required to complete any additional modules beyond this point.

Why do I need to complete the online maths and English assessments?

At GC, we continue to embed maths and English lessons as part of your study programme. English and maths skills are highly regarded by employers, so it’s important to keep them up to-date and refresh your knowledge of how to apply some of the skills you have learnt up to the point of school/college closures.

The assessment allows us to identify what level of maths and English you should be studying when you join us and helps our teaching teams understand if you need any additional support. We sometimes use your results to help us make decisions on what level of course you’re most suited to.

It is therefore important that you complete the online maths and English (BKSB) assessments without the help of someone else. Spend a minimum of 20 minutes on each assessment; take your time and read the questions in full before answering and ensure you are in a suitable room to avoid distractions. You are not permitted to use a calculator, the Internet or text books, but you may use a notepad and pen to do any workings out, if needed.

If you have any questions in the meantime, or experience any technical difficulties with our online maths and English (BSKB) assessments, please email our Student Support Team info@gloscol.ac.uk or Admissions Team applications@gloscol.ac.uk

Good luck with your assessments!
