Chefs on Tour

Chefs on Tour demonstrations deliver the cooking skills of the GC catering department directly to the classroom in schools around Gloucestershire.

This provides students with cooking tips, the opportunity to taste the sort of food they would make as catering students at GC, and the inspiration to get cooking! If you are interested, we could be coming to your school to get you involved.

“I am pleased to announce that the GC Chefs on Tour will be on the road again on Tuesdays throughout the 2015/2016 academic year. This year’s star studded line-up, led by Head Chef, Shaun Naen and myself, will also see a number of guest chefs joining the roadshow which is a really exciting development.

Our tour is primarily aimed at pupils in Year 10 and 11, but subject to the team’s availability, the roadshow can also be booked for Year 9 pupils who are considering catering as a future career option.

Again, this year’s Chefs on Tour roadshow is completely FREE OF CHARGE to schools, as it is funded through the kind support of the Savoy Trust and Gloucestershire College. It is a brilliant programme, and we can’t wait to come out and visit as many schools as possible again this year – last year we took the roadshow to over 30 Gloucestershire schools. All that we ask for is a warm welcome, access to power and water, enthusiastic students and of course, a cup of coffee!

Preparing for University – Cooking on a Budget

Get ready for living away from home with our hands-on cooking sessions!

Following our successful and fun ‘cooking on a budget’ sessions with Churchdown Sixth Form, the team have put together a package of cooking sessions to help your students prepare for eating well on a budget.

A Helping Hand with Competition Entries

The Chefs on Tour team has supported students in fine tuning their Future Chef and Rotary Chef competition entries with great success. This has led to the College hosting the National Rotary Young Chef finals.

The team would be delighted to support any student or teacher wishing to improve the quality of their entries. We are also closely linked with a host of professional chefs who are also willing to help add that extra touch of flair to your entry.

Welcome to Gloucestershire’s Primary Schools

We are delighted to have just received funding for Chefs on Tour to work with primary schools in the Cheltenham area. We are hoping to gain further support to enable us to reach out beyond Cheltenham to all of Gloucestershire.

 Chefs on Tour is actively promoting healthy eating in its roadshows, through which cooking is demonstrated in an entertaining and light hearted way. The school children will learn that preparing and cooking healthy food can be fun and simple. The roadshows aims to encourage children to try new foods and think about what they are eating.

Students are encouraged to share their experience at home and to help they are given healthy eating recipe cards and where possible, free samples of food. Chefs on Tour also invite children and their parents to attend cookery sessions at the College, as well as provide training sessions for primary school teachers to brush up on their cookery skills and bring new ideas and techniques back to the classroom.

 The best part of this is that is comes at no cost to schools, children or parents.
