Head of Digital, Pearson (left March 2017)

I joined the College because I believe the Further Education experience is a vital part of the local community, offering a unique and valuable service to learners, industry and the local economy.  My 30 years experience in educational publishing have given me some useful skills and knowledge which I would like to use to give back something to the College which nurtured both me and my daughter at critical times in our educational journeys.

Formerly GC Governor from 2003 to 2012.  Coming back is an opportunity for me to add new experience as a Co-opted Member in Higher Education and Secondary Education. I joined in 2003 because my first adult education was in a Technical College and I wanted to give something back.

Retired Civil Servant

Formerly served on Board at Age UK Gloucestershire, University of Gloucestershire Students Union and Healthwatch Gloucestershire Currently Steering Group Member, Healthwatch, Gloucestershire

I have always been interested in education, as a student, teacher, trainer and mentor. Since retirement I have updated my knowledge of post 16 education as a University SU Trustee and through casual work as an exams invigilator in a comprehensive school. I wish to use my knowledge and experience for the benefit of Gloucestershire College.

Why did you join the Gloucestershire Board?
Having worked in vocational education for most of my career, mainly with awarding organisations, I aspire to bring a focus on accredited learning to the Curriculum and Quality Committee. I feel passionately about the transformative ability of further education and broadening the student experience to provide a curriculum that delivers on “whole education”.
I want to lead by example and support women to take on Board positions.

I joined the Curriculum & Quality Committee as part of the exciting partnership between Dene Magna and Gloucestershire College providing high quality post-16 education.  This opportunity will support developments for both organisations and allow me to gain a valuable insight into post-16 education.
